What it is

OpenMahj is a free, first-party browser platform for real-time American Mahjong (NMJL-style) on openmahj.com. It runs four-player tables and two-player Siamese, with Charleston, jokers, flowers, calling, and bots that fill empty seats. You share a four-character room code or link — no download and no account required. It also offers a Daily Mahj challenge (one target hand against three bots). It is social table software, not mahjong-solitaire tile matching. It does not use the copyrighted NMJL card: OpenMahj ships original house cards from 2022–2026.

Who it’s for

Home players who want a no-signup browser table to play American-style flow with friends or bots. It fills a gap next to the American online tables already on disk (I Love Mahj, Mahjongg4Fun, Mahjong 4 Friends, Mahj Parlour, HeyMahjong Multiplayer, Eight Bam, Bam Good Time, Mahjong Time, Playboard, etc.) and the Chinese/Riichi servers (PlayMahjong.io, Mahjong Soul, Tenhou, Riichi City).

Why it’s listed

The plaza needs an unused multiplayer home-game slot with a real first-party URL, rules copy, and clear pricing.

• The same page separates solitaire from table play: search results for “mahjong” are mostly solitaire; OpenMahj is American Mahjong — four people, concealed hands, race to build a pattern.
• FAQ on the homepage: playing is free with no cap on games; OpenMahj+ is optional and members/non-members sit at the same tables; to play with friends open openmahj.com/play, type a display name, start a table, share the four-character code; no account needed; Daily Mahj releases at 11:59 p.m. UTC the previous day; disconnect mid-game and a bot plays your seat until you reopen the link.
• Play launcher (https://openmahj.com/play/) returned 200. Entry points: Join a table (room code), Create a table, and Play today’s Daily Table. Copy: “Free to play · No account needed · Bots fill empty seats.”

FAQ

Q: Can I play American Mahjong with friends here for free?
A: Yes. On 2026-09-28 the site said play is free with no account: start a table at openmahj.com/play, share a four-character room code, and bots fill empty seats. OpenMahj+ ($2/month or $20/year) is optional cosmetics/hints only.

Q: Does it use the official NMJL card?
A: No. The homepage says the NMJL card is copyrighted, so OpenMahj includes original house cards from 2022 through 2026. Choose a card when you create a table.

Q: Is this mahjong solitaire?
A: No. The site explicitly says it is four-player (or two-player Siamese) American Mahjong with Charleston, jokers, and pattern hands — not single-player tile matching.
