What it is
Mahjong House is a free Hong Kong (Cantonese) mahjong game. It runs in a web browser at play.mahjonghouse.app and as an Android app. You can play solo against twelve AI “club regulars,” join online Quick Match or Ranked games against real players, or open a private room for friends. Its Terms of Use name the operator as Asian Digital Mind LLC. The game is available in English, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese.
Who it’s for
Players who want proper Hong Kong rules and faan scoring online, and groups of friends who want a private table without everyone installing an app.
Why it’s listed
It is a full four-player Hong Kong mahjong game with private rooms that friends can join from a browser. Its rules are published on its own site.
- Standard rules (home page): 3 faan to win, 10-faan cap, flowers and seasons, discarder pays.
- Play with Friends (private rooms page): the host creates a room, chooses house rules, and shares a link, a 6-character room code or a QR code. Friends join “from the app or straight from a web browser, with nothing to download.” Empty seats are filled by AI players, so 2, 3 or 4 people can play.
- House-rule options: minimum faan of 0, 1 or 3; a cap of 10 or 13; who pays on a discard win (全銃, 半銃 or discarder pays double); half-spicy or spicy payouts; flower options; one or several winners per discard; match length of 4, 8 or 16 hands or a full four rounds; and three pace settings.
- Online play: unranked Quick Match (four hands) and Ranked with a season leaderboard. There are no live hints online.
- Learning tools: five short lessons, stats, hand replays and a printable faan cheat sheet.
- Price: free to play. In solo play, an ad appears between rounds. Remove Ads costs $6.99 one time. The optional “Sifu” coaching subscription is $3.99/month or $29.99/year. The site says play is “Points only, never money.”

Notes
- Home games listing: a full Hong Kong mahjong game with online and private-room play. It is not tile-matching solitaire.
- Not American mahjong: it plays Hong Kong rules only; the site has a “Hong Kong vs American” guide.
- iOS mismatch: the og:image reads “Free on iPhone and iPad,” but the home page says “Coming soon on the App Store.”
- Ads appear between rounds in solo play, not in online matches. In-app purchases are optional.
- Operator: Asian Digital Mind LLC, per the Terms of Use. Support contact is support@mahjonghouse.app.

- Not affiliated with Mahjong Plaza. No account was created and no purchase was made.
