Sheriff of Mahjong — Mahjong Plaza

Category: Side games
Also called: Sheriff of Mahjong®: Tile Match; Sheriff of Mahjong: Tile Games; G5 Sheriff of Mahjong
Last checked: 2026-09-15

What it is

Sheriff of Mahjong® is a first-party G5 Entertainment solitaire / tile-matching product. You pair matching free tiles to clear layouts, collect resources, rebuild a Wild West settlement (Colinstown city-building framing), and use boosters such as Dice and Dynamite. It is not 4-player mahjong — not American Mah Jongg (NMJL card), not Japanese Riichi, not Chinese table play.

Who it’s for

People who want a casual matching-tile puzzle with story / map / settlement framing on phone, tablet, or PC (G5 Store / launcher, browser on g5.com, iOS, Android, Mac, Windows). Not players looking for a live 4-player table.

Why it’s listed

Plaza needs a clearly labeled first-party solitaire / tile-matching side-game slot that is not already on disk (not Microsoft, MobilityWare, EnsenaSoft / Mahjong Deluxe, TrySolitaire, GamoVation / Mahjong Club, Zygomatic, City Tours, Treasure Quest, Arkadium / Mahjong Dimensions, G5 / Mahjong Journey, G5 / Pyramid of Mahjong, or G5 / Emperor of Mahjong).

Product hub (https://www.g5.com/games/sheriff-of-mahjong) loaded on 2026-09-15 under Sheriff of Mahjong®: Tile Match. Copy: “Swap and match tiles on thousands of puzzling pair-matching levels”; “This new mahjong solitaire game is a unique and epic combination of city building and classic tile pairing”; power-ups named Dice (gets you out of a difficult situation) and Dynamite (blows up multiple pairs of tiles); Colinstown / Butler Gang / Richard Pierce story framing; hub bullets include thousands of free immersive levels, boosters, offline play, and rebuild / unlock buildings. Platforms listed there: iOS, Mac / G5 Mac, Android / Kindle Fire / G5 Android, Windows 10+. Hub “How to play” frames two components: Mahjong Solitaire (remove matching pairs of free tiles) and Settlement Building.
G5 mahjong catalog (https://www.g5.com/games/mahjong): lists Sheriff of Mahjong®: Tile Match among G5’s mahjong solitaire titles (alongside Mahjong Journey, Emperor of Mahjong, Pyramid of Mahjong, and Mary’s Mahjong). Catalog “What is the objective of mahjong?” section frames mahjong solitaire: clear the board by matching pairs of identical free tiles (not blocked left or right).

FAQ

Q: Can I play 4-player mahjong here (American, Riichi, or Chinese)?
A: No. G5’s product hub and mahjong catalog frame Sheriff of Mahjong as mahjong solitaire / pair matching: clear layouts by pairing identical free tiles (with story and settlement rebuilding around those puzzles). That is not a 4-player table.

Q: Where do I actually play?
A: The official hub is g5.com/games/sheriff-of-mahjong. Google Play hosts Sheriff of Mahjong: Tile Match; the App Store hosts Sheriff of Mahjong: Tile Games; G5 also lists Windows / Mac / browser / Android play through g5.com and the G5 Store. There is no live 4-player server on those pages.

Q: Is it free?
A: The G5 hub presents free-to-play distribution (optional in-app items). Google Play lists ads and in-app purchases. The App Store lists Free with In-App Purchases and optional crystal / deal SKUs (long description and IAP list: $0.99 through $49.99 among other SKUs). Check the store or hub you use; those pages do not print one single paid price on the check date.
