What it is
Plum Mahjong is a free Mahjong Solitaire game from Vikolo Dynamics, designed to be easy on the eyes. Every layout fits within six tiles across, so the ivory tiles stay large even on a small phone, and blocked tiles dim so you can see which ones are free. It plays in a web browser with no sign-up and, per its site, no ads and no in-app purchases. It launched on the web in October 2026.
Who it’s for
Anyone who wants a calm solo tile-matching puzzle, especially players who find small, crowded solitaire layouts hard to read, and friends who want to race each other on the same board.
Why it’s listed
It is a solo tile-matching game, not four-player mahjong. Its home page and press kit describe the modes and accessibility features in detail.
- Big tiles: 17 layouts, each no more than six tiles across and seven rows down (12 to 110 tiles, up to five layers).
- Always solvable: each board is dealt backwards from a cleared table, and Shuffle keeps it solvable.
- Two ways to match: by default a tapped tile drops into a four-slot tray and two alike clear; classic pairs is one switch in Settings. A separate Mahjong Connect (Shisen-Sho) mode joins pairs with a line of at most two turns.
- Daily board: one new board a day, the same for everyone, with streaks and fastest times.
- Play together: Race (same deal, your own board), Battle (one shared board) and Duel (turns of ten seconds), by link, six-character code or against anyone online. There is no chat.
- Accessibility: free tiles marked by light and shade rather than color alone; large text, reduced motion, screen reader and keyboard support; no time limit on solo boards.
- Languages: 14, including English, Spanish, Japanese, Korean and Chinese.

Notes
- Side game: Mahjong Solitaire and Mahjong Connect, different games from American, Hong Kong or riichi mahjong; there is no NMJL card.
- Free, no ads: the site says there are no ads, no sign-up and nothing to buy; in-game coins are earned by playing and have no cash value.
- Very new: the press kit gives an October 2026 launch for the web and Android, with an iPhone and iPad app “coming soon,” so features may change.
- Privacy: progress stays on the device; online play needs only a display name, avatar and country, with no email or password.
- Not exercised: the game board and online modes were not played during the check; descriptions come from the home page and press kit. The Android store link is not cited.

FAQ
Q: Is Plum Mahjong free?
A: Yes. The site says it is free in the browser, with no sign-up, no ads and no in-app purchases.
Q: Is this real mahjong?
A: No. It is Mahjong Solitaire, a tile-matching puzzle, plus a Mahjong Connect mode. It does not use four-player rules or the NMJL card.
Q: Why are the tiles so big?
A: Every board is limited to six tiles across, so tiles stay large and readable on a phone.
Q: Can I play with a friend?
A: Yes. Send a room link or six-character code and pick Race, Battle or Duel, or send a challenge link with your time on a board you cleared.
Q: Is there a time limit?
A: Not on solo boards or the Daily. Online Race, Battle and Duel matches are timed.
