What it is

Mini Mahj is a free daily American mahjong challenge that runs in a web browser. A new challenge is released every day at midnight, your local time. Every player gets “the exact same tiles drawn from the exact same wall” and plays one round against the same three AI opponents: Ivy, Rose and Lily. You try to declare Mahjong in as few turns as possible, and a leaderboard ranks players by efficiency. The site describes it as “like Wordle, but for Mahjong.”

Who it’s for

American mahjong players who want a five-minute daily puzzle between real games, and friend groups who want to compare scores on the same deal.

Why it’s listed

It is a quick daily side game built on American mahjong draw-and-discard play, not tile-matching solitaire. Its rules and scoring are published on its own guide pages.

  • Format (How to Play and Daily Challenge guide): one attempt per day; about 5 minutes per challenge; a “streamlined version of American Mahjong against AI opponents.”
  • Scoring: you must declare Mahjong to score on the leaderboard; fewer turns means a higher score. A wall game or a loss scores lower.
  • Streaks and stats: your streak counts consecutive days played, and stats include win rate, average turns and best finishes. These are stored in your browser, with no account needed.
  • Sharing: after each challenge you can share a result summary that doesn’t spoil the deal. Mini Mahj Groups gives friends a private leaderboard.
  • Price: the About page says “Completely free” and “No ads.”

Notes

  • Side games listing: a daily single-player challenge with American mahjong mechanics (draw, discard, build a hand), against AI only.
  • Rules simplified: the site calls it a “streamlined version” of American mahjong. It does not say whether it uses the current NMJL card.
  • Operator not named: the About, Privacy and Terms pages do not name a company or person. The footer reads ”© 2025 Mini Mahj™.” The Privacy and Terms pages say they are placeholder documents and give Instagram (@minimahjdaily) as the only contact.
  • Stats are per-browser: switching browsers or devices resets your streak.
  • The home page is a JavaScript app; the guide pages are readable without JavaScript.
  • Image: the site’s own og:image (og-share-card.png), 1280×896, flattened on white and saved as mini-mahj.jpg.
