What it is

Motor City Mahjong is a first-party American Mahjong teaching and events practice on motorcitymahjong.com, based in Metro Detroit. Founder Katie offers beginner classes, advanced strategy sessions, private group lessons, and guided play — including in-home instruction. Secondary programming includes a flexible Bam Bird Scramble league. Its main identity is lessons.

Who it’s for

Metro Detroit beginners and early players who want hands-on American Mahjong instruction. It is separate from the teachers and studios already on disk (School of American Mah Jongg, Order of the Tile, Atlanta Mentors, Mahj Life, Mahjong with Kim, The Mahj Playbook, Classical Mahjong, The Mahj Lodge, RichMahj, So Bam Fun, Après Mahjong, etc.) and from Southeast Michigan Riichi (different rule family).

Why it’s listed

The plaza needs an unused first-party teacher/course page with loadable curriculum, a named founder, and printed public-class rates — geographic diversity vs Monday’s RichMahj (Virginia) pick.
